Biography

I was born in Québec City in 1955. After my studies in literature and semiology, I made a career in print production and publishing. I also founded the Presses de Bras-d’Apic to first publish my book on my artist father.

My interest in photography began in adolescence with the occasional borrowing of a camera. I bought a SLR in 1978 and used it without any real favourite subject. My attraction for the landscape was revealed during hikes in Europe (19811984). Later, as production manager of the Canadian Centre for Architecture, I oversaw the printing of books that often featured landscape photos. I bought my first digital camera in 2002. Its immediate display appealed to me and other digital cameras would follow, allowing me to experiment with filters, formats, long exposures, etc.

My approach intends to be both a discipline of the eye and an aesthetic quest. Preferring nature and the landscape, I try to structure my perception of reality rather than finding an immanent order in the visible.
